A small batch of the Rumpler G.I, aka the Rumpler 5A15, was built in 1915 for operational evaluation. The plane proved useful and it was followed by the Rumpler G.II.[1] According to Lamberton, they were withdrawn in August 1916.[4], but Frontbestand shows one on charge on 31 Oct 1916.[5]

Their serial numbers were G.15-18/15. G.15/15 saw operational evaluation by Kampgeschwader der Obersten Heeresleitung, while G.17/15 and G.18/15 served with Brieftaubern Abteilung Metz.[1]
