The manufacturing firm W.G. Armstrong, Whitworth & Co, Ltd. of Newcastle-on-Tyne hired Dutch designer Frederick Koolhoven as their chief designer,. This led to a pair of robust, underappreciated two-seater F.K. aeroplane designs.[1]
